Biographical
Born in Bar Harbor, Maine in 1960, Rob came to faith in Christ, after two years searching for meaning and purpose as a hard agnostic, at the age of 20. During the two years of his search, he attended Bridgewater State College, Stonehill College, and Massasoit Community College taking computer science courses. It would not be until after his conversion that he would get married, and finish his undergraduate education at Oklahoma Baptist University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Religious Studies.
Rob is married to Kathy (Brooks) and they have a daughter Christine. Rob and Kathy met as youth ministers, Rob from Massachusetts and Kathy in Oklahoma.
Shortly, after they were married, Rob sensed God's call to the gospel ministry. He was licensed to preach the gospel by First Baptist Church, Purcell, OK and ordained to the gospel ministry by Trinity Baptist Church, Niskayuna, NY.
During the years of his undergraduate studies, as fruit of his conversion, he developed a strong desire to know God, devoting himself to studying the Bible daily. It was during these years that the burden became strong as to knowing and sharing "why" Christianity was true. This would ultimately play a vital role in his ministry.
In 1991 they moved to Upstate New York where he would complete his graduate studies at Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary, learning New Testament Greek and Old Testament Hebrew, in order to communicate the Bible more effectively in its original language. In 1997 he earned the Masters of Divinity with Biblical languages degree.
During the years of his undergraduate and graduate studies, Rob had the opportunity to be involved in equipping God's people, helping them understand why the Christian faith is true as opposed to all other religious worldviews. This facet of ministry became more evident as he set out to study the evidences for Christianity, contrasting it with the world religions, the popular cults in American, and the secular philosophies that challenge the faith. His study not only aided in solidifying his faith, but it also jettisoned him toward practical ministry in the secular marketplace of ideas.
In 1992, while in seminary, he served as the Interfaith Witness Director with the Hudson Baptist Association and Minister of Evangelism where his family served as members. During this time, he had the privilege of speaking to youth and college students on various subjects ranging on the cults, the New Age, and the occult. He also published a ministry newsletter that would find itself traveling beyond the borders of the US to the UK, Europe, Norway, and Austrailia.
In September 1996, as the newsletter continued, the ministry was refocused to reflect a broader based apologetics ministry. During this time, he had several speaking opportunities in local universities in the Capital District region. He also taught related field courses for the Calvary Chapel of Albany Bible Institute, Hudson Valley Bible Institute, and the Northeast Branch of Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary as an adjunct professor. He also had a weekly five minute radio spot called "Just" Thinking." He has been a special guest on local Christian radio and television in the Capital District broadcasting area.
In 2001, Rob and his family moved to Virginia to pastor a church. They now reside in the Spotsylvania area where they active members in a growing evangelistic church that challenges him to exercise his teaching and equipping gifts as a minister and an apologist.
As the founder and director of Reasonable Faith Ministries, the ministry extends his continued passion for equipping Christians to engage the culture and the church for Christ.
In recent days, he has completed the Certificate in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. As part of his practicum, he needs to present 30 apologetics related presentations for the completion of his certification with the North American Mission Board (Click here) as a Certified Apologetics Instructor (Click here). Let RFM know if you would like him to come and speak to your local church or your group.
